AAPEX Frequently Asked Questions

Learning to drive is one of life's biggest milestones, and choosing the right driving school is an important decision. At AAPEX Driving Academy, part of the CAA Niagara family of businesses, we believe learning to drive should be supported every step of the way. From your first phone call to your road test, you're backed by an entire team committed to your success. For almost 40 years, we've helped thousands of Niagara drivers build the skills and confidence they need to become safe, capable drivers. Along the way, you'll have access to experienced instructors, dedicated office staff, convenient online booking, and ongoing support whenever you need it. Our goal isn't just to help you earn your licence, it's to help you feel confident every time you get behind the wheel.

Every MTO-approved driving school follows the same provincial curriculum and provides the same certification upon successful completion. Where schools differ is in the experience they provide.

When you choose AAPEX Driving Academy, you're investing in more than driving lessons. You're choosing a trusted local organization with nearly 40 years of experience, a team of professional instructors, dedicated customer support, flexible scheduling, convenient online lesson management, and the confidence that comes from learning with a driving academy backed by the CAA Niagara family of businesses.

AAPEX Driving Academy is also the only driving school in Niagara to deliver the LOOK PREDICT PREVENT program. This exclusive training helps students develop advanced hazard awareness and defensive driving skills by teaching them how to recognize potential risks, anticipate what other road users may do, and make safer decisions behind the wheel. It's another way we help prepare students not just to pass their road test, but to become confident, capable drivers for life.

Many families tell us they value knowing there's always someone available to answer questions, help with scheduling, and support them throughout the learning process. The MTO certificate may be the same, but the learning experience—and the support behind it—is what sets AAPEX Driving Academy apart.

You're never learning alone. While your instructor is your guide behind the wheel, they're supported by an entire team working to make your experience a positive one. Whether you need help choosing a course, rescheduling a lesson, understanding your progress, or preparing for your road test, our office staff are here to help. That combination of experienced instructors and dedicated customer support is what sets AAPEX Driving Academy apart.

That's exactly why our office team is here. Whether you're wondering which course is right for you, need help scheduling lessons, or have questions during your training, our knowledgeable staff are ready to assist. It's one of the many advantages of learning with an established driving academy backed by a full customer support team.

We know life doesn't always go according to plan. Our online booking system and dedicated office staff make it easy to coordinate lessons and accommodate schedule changes whenever possible. Because we have a network of instructors serving communities across Niagara, we can often provide more flexibility than a single-instructor operation.

Whenever possible, we'll match you with an instructor based on your location, availability, and learning needs. Our goal is to provide a consistent learning experience while also giving students the flexibility that comes with having a team of instructors across Niagara.

AAPEX Driving Academy welcomes:

• New drivers earning their first licence
• Teen drivers
• Adults learning later in life
• Newcomers to Canada
• Drivers preparing for a road test
• Drivers looking to refresh their skills and confidence

No matter where you're starting, we'll help you build the knowledge and confidence to drive safely.

Every student learns differently, and our instructors tailor lessons to your experience and comfort level. You'll build practical skills through real-world driving experience while receiving constructive coaching in a supportive environment. Our focus is on helping you become a confident, responsible driver—not simply preparing you to pass a road test.

Since 1988, AAPEX Driving Academy has helped thousands of Niagara drivers develop the skills, confidence, and habits that last a lifetime. As part of the CAA Niagara family of businesses, we're proud to continue that tradition by delivering professional driver education backed by trusted local service.

Absolutely. Feeling nervous before your first lesson is completely normal, and it's something our instructors see every day. Our goal is to create a calm, supportive environment where students can learn at their own pace, ask questions, and build confidence one step at a time. Many students begin their first lesson feeling anxious and finish their course feeling comfortable behind the wheel. Helping people grow into confident drivers is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Every student learns at their own pace. Our Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course is designed to provide the skills and experience needed to become a safe, confident driver. Some students feel comfortable quickly, while others benefit from additional practice after completing their course. Your instructor will provide honest feedback on your progress and recommend additional practice if it will help you feel more confident behind the wheel.

It happens, and it's more common than many people realize. A failed road test doesn't define you as a driver. Your instructor will help you understand what happened, identify areas for improvement, and prepare you for your next attempt. Our goal is to help you become a safe, confident driver, and sometimes that simply takes a little more practice.

Parents play an important role in helping new drivers build confidence. We encourage regular practice between professional lessons so students can reinforce what they've learned in a familiar environment. Our instructors can recommend skills to focus on, answer questions, and help you understand what your teen should be practicing next.
