 FAQ

After holding a G1 license for a minimum of 12 months and passing the Ontario road test, you can upgrade to a G2 license. With this beginner’s license, you'll have more driving privileges but must still adhere to certain restrictions. AAPEX Driving Academy’s G2 Beginner Driving Program can teach G1 license holders everything needed to pass that test and earn your G2.

Yes. AAPEX Driving Academy will provide Driver's License History (DLH) which proves the successful completion and graduation from a BDE course. BDE graduates with a DLH are eligible for an insurance discount with most firms.

A ministry-approved driver education course is an MTO-approved Beginner Driver Education (BDE) program that meets Ontario government standards for driver training. It includes classroom or online instruction and in-car lessons, and successful graduates may qualify for earlier G2 testing and insurance discounts.

Yes, this experience counts.

Yes. Normally, G1 license holders are permitted to attempt their road test after one year. However, this time can be reduced to only 8 months if the applicant successfully completes a Ministry-approved driver education course like the one offered at AAPEX Driving Academy.

You can drive at any time, day or night. You can drive on your own and on any Ontario road with only these 3 important conditions:

  • You must not drink any alcohol if you will be driving. Your blood alcohol concentration must be zero.
  • Each person must have a working seatbelt so your vehicle is not overcrowded and everyone is protected. One person. One seatbelt.
  • Teenage G2 drivers must limit the number of passengers under the age of 20 late at night. For the first six months, G2 drivers aged 19 and under cannot carry more that one passenger aged 19 and under between midnight and 5 a.m.* After the first six months, G2 drivers aged 19 and under cannot carry more than three passengers aged 19 and under between midnight and 5 a.m. ** Does not apply if your only front seat passenger is a fully licensed driver with four or more years of driving experience, or if your passengers are your immediate family.

It is now law that all drivers 21 years of age and under, including full G and M class licensed drivers, must have a blood alcohol level of zero.

A G2 license is the second stage of Ontario's graduated licensing system. It allows you to drive without a supervising driver while following certain restrictions, such as maintaining a zero blood alcohol level and, for some young drivers, passenger limits at night. After holding a G2 for at least 12 months, you can take your G road test to earn a full G license.

The Ontario G2 road test evaluates your ability to drive safely in everyday traffic. You'll be tested on skills such as turning, stopping, lane changes, intersections, parking, backing up, three-point turns, roadside stops, obeying traffic signs, and sharing the road with other vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. AAPEX’s G2 Beginner Driver Training can teach you all of the skills needed to take on the road test.

The Ontario G2 road test is designed to assess your ability to drive safely in everyday traffic. This test can be tricky without the proper practice and confidence needed to engage with real driving situations. AAPEX Driving Academy specializes in making students comfortable behind the wheel so you can approach the test full prepared and confident.
